Health

Hi all,
I recently read a W.H.O. report that the the Costa Blanca area is very beneficial for health eg. Asthma, arthritis, etc. because of the salt lakes. Is this true or just a hype, has anyone who has moved to La Marina experienced an improvement in their health, asthma etc ? Would be very interested to find out.

La Marina

I am afraid its not true about the salt lakes ,its like the quarry was going to be our Golf Course,
The companies told you what you wanted to hear, not the truth

Thanks for the reply. That's terrible to think they'd lie about something like that ! I have asthma and am buying a place in La Marina, I was hoping that there might be some truth in it

I seem to be Having a busy day today, so here goes.
It was the World Health Organisation who stated that this is one of the healthiest places to live, due to the salt lakes, It was not a back street builder trying to con you.
I have Rheumatoid Arthritis, which attacked my body 12 years ago, this is a crippling disease which attacks any and every joint in your body, I was laid off work and attended hospital regulary, After a few years of constant pain, I went into remission. After chatting to my Rheumatologist, about options, the bit about the salt lakes came up, he told me that factually It was correct, but the illness is incurable and it would come back albeit may be months or possibly years later but it will be worse when it does come back.
We moved to la Marina almost eight years ago, I had four pretty good years before it returned, I now suffer from the pain of the arthritis but still not as bad as it was twelve years ago, Each time I return to the U.K. my pain is worse and it takes a few days of being back in La Marina for it to ease.
The best thing of all, is the medical care I do get here, I can be guaranteed that whenever the pain is bad, The Local Clinic and Torrievieha Hospital get it sorted. So yes the air in this area does really help, but the medical care you get is out of all comparison to what I would get in the U.K.

Thank you Alan,
For your most informative reply. Sorry to hear about your health problems, sounds like you had a very bad time of it ! But glad you are getting some relief, there must be some health benefits if, when you return to the UK your rheumatism is exasperated and then on returning to La Marina you begin to get relief.
When i eventually come to live in La Marina, im hoping my Asthma will be alleviated some what. I'd hate to think the health benefits were brouchure spin. I have visions of myself cycling up and down La Marina ...lol.
Thanks Alan, glad to know there's at least a shred of truth in it. ;) Thank you for your answer, much appreciated.
I'd appreciate it if any other of you good people in La Marina have noticed any improvements in their health, snce moving to the Urb, if they could let me know, thanks in advance, x
