When we practice yoga poses, breath work and meditation, we are stirring up our energy, including deep emotions, stale energy, and even memories. We store all these things within our physical body by holding tension in certain areas. The most common places to store these energies are the hips, belly, back, shoulders, neck, jaw and the heart. When we do not allow our emotions to be felt, these zones can become a habitual place to store more of the same energy, becoming a potential disease or injury. When we practice surrender in a pose, we relax enough for these energies to be released, and we give the emotions a chance to manifest.
