Banco De Valencia

Hi,

Has anyone else experienced problems with Banco De Valencia today. I have used my card fine in LIDLS and Iceland but can't withdraw cash from a cash machine nor get a balance and I can't log in to online banking?

At our Oasis Help Centre, in Javea today, a man brought in a letter from Banco de Valencia pointing out that he should now use La Caixa branches and facilities. Perhaps that is your answer? These things always happen on a Friday afternoon, don't they?

OMG I can't access any of my cash at the moment and the bank is shut until Monday! Please does anyone know where the La Caixa bank is in La Marina please?

From what I have read on the financial news, Most of the Offices of Bank of Valencia has been bought by Caixa (approx 98.9%)this was apparently agreed between the banks and the Spanish Government months ago as part of the plan to sort out the Spaniah Banking System.
So as yet any money you have in Bank valencia is still your money except your account will operate through Caixa.I presume your Direct debits will still be paid albeit possibly from a different bank.
from my knowledge of these sort of events barring a few hic cups things will carry on as before,Obviously it will mean finding a different Bank Office to use,but as with living in Spain, you get used to these things.
I also think that not notifying all customers of the sudden change, would elliviate, the run on the Banks money that normally happen on these occasions, and the Friday closure, gives caixa the weekend to sort out some of the problems.
If ,like some of the comments made here,If you cannot get to a caixa bank on Monday,I have some spare time on Monday, and if you like I can take you to Caixa bank in La Marina Village,so that you can speak to staff at that bank.If you do need me to take you just leave a message and a contact number I can reach on,on this Forum and I will get back to you

Hi Alan,

Thank you so much for your very kind offer. One of my friends has offers to take me if needs be. I am going to call into Banco De Valencia first to check things. I have managed to log into my Banco Valencia account finally so imagine it was a computer glitch. Thank you once again. Since I moved here last October the kindness of strangers in La Marina never ceases to amaze me.

Just heard from a friend of mine, who is a customer of Bank of valencia, she used the cash machine at the La Marina office this morning, and obtained her cash with no problem whatsoever,so perhaps the earlier problem was a technical hitch.

Myra
read on another Forum today, that the Bank of Valencia, near Zodiacs, will be staying open but on the first of July it will change its name to L`Caixa,so hopefully you should still be able to use it.

Andi, have just run a check on the LLoyds International, and it appears to be true, they have sold everything to Sabatell,How long it will take to go through is still not clear.
Unfortunately my Spanish bank is Lloyds International,So I will have to join in the game of "do i change,if so can i trust any Spanish Bank"

Sabadell are taking over Banco Gallego, for 1€ AFTER the FROB have injected 390 million Euros. The unsuccessful bidder, Banco Espiritu Santo in Portugal, was willing to pay 300 million € but FROB wanted to keep Banco Gallego controlled by Spain. What a waste of almost 400 million €. The Portuguese bank would have kept open the Branches, but Sabadell will close Branches where there is duplication.

Go to the Deutsche Bank in La Marina! They are German and the safest bet in Europe I would say! The Staff ALL speak English
as well as German and Spanish, and the Staff are actually really nice. Had accounts with Cam (thieves and ignorant, no wonder they went bust!) and Bancaja now Bankia. Since they have been brought out, there are "fees" on my account out of no where!
Deutsche bank are gaining a lot of Brits recently!!
